Meet Our Volunteers - Alex Skolnick

Hello everyone! My name is Alex, and I am currently a senior at Suncoast High School. One interesting fact about me is that I am the president of The Sock Drawer, a nonprofit organization I founded that works with Title One Elementary Schools in Palm Beach County as well as the County’s homeless population. The Sock Drawer has given over $200,000 to Title One Elementary Schools and I have personally handed out over 17,000 pairs of socks to the homeless. Philanthropy is the most important aspect of my life, and I joined SFTFS because I respect the work my friend SFTFS founder Sam Friedman is doing and want to help out a fellow philanthropist.

After graduating from Suncoast, I want to major in chemical engineering at Stanford University, my dream school. Chemical engineers use science to combat world hunger and improve technology and medicine, and chemical engineering would allow me to combine my two passions of philanthropy and science to better the world as a whole.

I can’t wait to work with you all!
